Introducing…. ME!

Wow!  Hi!  I’m super excited to be writing this:  I am an Etsy shop!  It’s been a dream of mine to open an Etsy shop for a few years now, but the time just never seemed “right”.  Well, I finally quit waiting for the “right” time and decided to just jump in and do it!

I sell sticky things — planner and calendar stickers, and 24″ (60 cm) washi tape samples.  Currently I only ship to Canada and the USA, but once I’m more established I hope to expand globally.

So.  Who am I?  I’m Dawna, the heart and soul behind StickwithDawna.  I’d like to tell you a bit about myself, so I’m not just some entity in cyberspace to you.  First of all, I live in Winnipeg, Canada.  I’m married to my high school sweetheart.  We have been together for 34 years, and we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary last week.  We have a son and a daughter, both of whom are adults.  We are very fortunate to have expanded our little family to include a wonderful son-in-law .

I have an artistic, creative background.  I have done floral design and managed a small flower shop for a couple of years.  I have been a successful digital scrapbooking products designer called True North Scraps for several years.  I also make paper blank mini scrapbook albums that you just add photos and memories for people who either don’t have the time or don’t know how to make a scrapbook.  And I paint.  Sometimes a photo or two of these may pop into my blog because I am very proud of what I create.  In fact, the sunset banner on my home page is from a painting I just completed a couple weeks ago.

I have a few health issues.  The biggest one is Fibromyalgia (which I call Fibro, FMS, or Eunice, depending on my mood).  If you are unfamiliar with FMS, it basically affects everything.  Your body aches like it’s the worst flu you’ve ever had.  I can’t even slap a mosquito or have a blood test without it hurting for an hour afterward.  You are exhausted to the point of having to take a nap, not just a 10 minute cat-nap — I’m talking about a 2-hour afternoon nap like a toddler.   Stress makes everything worse and causes nasty flare-ups. (Check out the really cute flare-up stickers in my shop that I use to track my flares with.)  There’s no cure and not much that actually relieves the symptoms.  There are lots of other things too, but I won’t go on and on.  You get the picture.    It’s not nice.

Anyway, I told you about Eunice so you’d understand why my shipping policy is 1 – 3 business days.  I will strive for 1 business day, but I can’t control my symptoms and flare-ups.  I hope my customers will understand and be patient if it does take me 3 days to get your order in the mail.  I don’t take custom orders at this time, also due to my health.  I just can’t guarantee that I would be able to design, make and mail a custom order within a reasonable length of time. That said, please let me know what kind of stickers you’d like me to make and I will do my best to get it into my shop in the near future.

Customer service is my number 1 priority.  I feel like it’s a dying art, except for in small business settings like my Etsy shop.  That means it is my best way to entice you to shop in my store.  If you like my products and are happy with your order, please favourite StickWithDawna and tell everybody you know where you got your great stickers from.  If there is a problem with your order, please tell me first so I can have a chance to make it right.  I am human and working alone so sometimes errors can occur.  Good or bad reviews can make or break a small business, especially one that is just starting up, which is why I ask for the courtesy of letting me know about a problem first.  I will work hard to satisfy you.  My goal is to only have happy customers!

I live in a smoke-free home and our dog is a shed-free breed.  Anybody with allergies (like me) can be assured that a package from me shouldn’t set off an allergic reaction.

I am still working on my shop as time and health permit.  You should notice improvements in the appearance of my page within a week or two.  I am trying to add new products to my shop every day so make sure you favourite StickWithDawna and check back often for updates and new stock.

I personally use a MAMBI Happy Planner.  I am currently designing stickers for it but most of those stickers will also fit perfectly into any planner with a 1.5″ wide box, like Erin Condren Life Planners for example.  The full square stickers are the only ones that won’t fit because Happy Planner makes better use of the space on the page, IMO, and has longer boxes instead of header space that everybody covers up anyway.  As time goes by I hope to add ECLP-specific full size boxes to my inventory.
